About the Fanged Crescent

OTHARD'S MOUNTAINOUS HEART The Fanged Crescent is an all but forgotten region, graced with little lore provided by Square Enix. It lies between Yanxia, the Burn, and the Azim Steppe, mentioned in but a few flavor texts on a few items in game in the English version. Because of this, we have created a large amount of fan lore for this region, to the end that we would be able to roleplay characters from an area not often encountered. We recommend checking out our lore document below for more in-depth info on how we roleplay the Crescent. Otherwise, check out some quick information below.
........RACES........ Majority Raen, sizeable minorities of Far Eastern Hyur, Xaela, Viera
........LANGUAGES........ Doman is the most common. Fanged Crescent Raen spoken by most. Xaelic common among the Xaela.
........CUISINE........ Very spicy! Bears some similarity to Yanxian and Steppe cuisine.
........GEOGRAPHY........ Very mountainous, especially in the center and around the edges. Flatter land in the northern area. Many springs and small rivers.
........RELIGION........ Kami worship, like Yanxia, mixed with worship of Azim and Nhaama. Monasteries, temples, and wandering priests are common.
........THEMES........ Lower technology, mysticism, magic, eremitism, Taoism, youkai, cultural exchange
About the Benevolent Society
SERVING THOSE OF THE CRESCENT The Altruistic Society of Fanged Crescent Expatriates was founded by a small group of immigrants from the Crescent who have settled in Eorzea. Founded by aunt and niece duo Erayo no Uyo and Joutouguu Mayumi, the Society, modeled after a religious society back in the homeland, seeks to enhance the lives of all children of the Crescent who now call Eorzea and lands surrounding home. Of particular concern are the propagation of Fanged Crescent culture, access to priests and religious materials, and ensuring members receive fair employment and wages. It is not necessary to be from the Crescent to join the Society, one must simply support its mission. The group's sigil, printed at right, depicts a popular motif in the Crescent, representing the interplay between different extremes. Inside, two crescent moons represent the mountains encircling the region, both oriented in the same direction to represent the facing of the peaks on a north-facing map. The four orbs surrounding represent the scattered children of the Crescent returning to the Society for succor.
